It all began when I started supplying quality pork to my friends and family. It wasn't a business for me - it was a way to share great products I'd found with the people around me. After all, I learned from my father - who learned from his father before him - that eating right, like working hard, is just a way of life. We're made to eat a good balance of healthy, lean meats combined with fruits and vegetables. It's simple common sense to our family, and probably to yours as well. With Grandpa's Pork, I've found a way to help others embrace this sensible way of eating by providing them with healthy, high quality, fresh meats.

Selling directly to consumers allows us to capture a profit without going through a packing plant, which juggles animal prices and dilutes profits going back to the farm. The recent meltdown of the hog industry proves this point. With live hog prices at record lows (as low as $.08 per pound!) grocery store meat counter prices remained basically the same.
As organic/natural meat producers, we do not accelerate animal growth with synthetic hormones, or feed any antibiotics or animal byproducts. We are concerned, like a growing number of people, that over use of antibiotics is increasing the ineffectiveness of drugs in fighting disease. We feel the use of growth hormones and animal byproducts in the food chain is increasingly harmful to mankind. Our goal is to produce food products that are the very best tasting in the purest form.
On October 11, 1941, the first wheels of Maytag Blue Cheese were formed and put to age in our caves. Not much has changed since then, although our truck is newer and our cheesemakers are older! Today, we still make each wheel by hand, aging it in our caves twice as long as most other blue cheeses. After all, why change a good thing?
K & K Popcorn is the tiny popcorn with the mighty big taste. Smaller is better! Today's popcorns, even microwave varieties, have been bred to pop larger and larger. This creates more volume but when it comes to taste, the whole idea is a lot of hot air.
Big Daddy's Bar-B-Q is located in Des Moines, the capital city of Iowa. The family-owned and operated business was established in 1983 by Ike Seymour, aka Big Daddy, and his wife, Arnzie Seymour. The restaurant is currently located at 1000 East 14th Street.
Big Daddy's restaurant is known as one of the best places for ribs in Des Moines and as an excellent caterer. They catered to President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore while the two politicians were visiting Iowa.
Many celebrities have professed their fondness for his mouth-watering food and unique sauces. Big Daddy has received local and national attention for his sauces. He has appeared on Peter Jennings World News Tonight and the Early Show with Bryant Gumbel, among others.
